Englewood Area Information

Englewood is harbored by several small islands and magnificent beaches in a tropical setting. The town straddles two counties, Sarasota and Charlotte. Englewood is a beach community that thrives on its cultural events, nature parks, beaches, fishing, boating, and so much more. Englewood and its year-round residents retain the easy-going lifestyle of a small, close-knit community, which invites family and special guests back each season. Some of the smaller areas that make up Englewood are Northern Englewood, Manasota Key, Downtown Englewood, Englewood East, Rotonda, South Englewood, Gulf Cove and South Gulf Cove.

Northern Englewood
This area combines the best amenities with the laid-back atmosphere of its rural roots. This area includes Englewood Isles, Overbrook Gardens and Boca Royale. This location is really outstanding, with quick access to all of the benefits of both Venice and Englewood. A quick 3 mile trip drive the street takes you to Manasota Beach directly on the sparkling gulf of Mexico.

Manasota Key
Manasota Key is an enchanting barrier island off the coast of Englewood where there are no high-rises, no traffic lights, just a two-lane road and pristine Beaches. There are low-rise multi-family condos and apartments on the south end of the island. The north end has private homes on one-acre lots, tucked behind lush tropical foliage. Resort Accommodations are numerous and several quality Restaurants are nearby and as close as neighboring Venice.

Downtown, Olde Englewood Village
Stroll Downtown Olde Englewood Village known as Dearborn established 1896. The Dearborn area has so much to offer including the Lemon Bay Playhouse, a fabulous Day Spa and just few blocks away bike & kayak rentals plus everything from live bait, to wireless internet coffee shop, to fine art. Walk to restaurants, shops, Elsie Quirk Library, antiques stores and the local grocery. Visit Indian Mound Park which has a boat launch as well as a picnic & BBQ area or you can just relax in the sun watching the boats sail by.

Englewood East
Englewood East is a non deed restricted community that is located between the Rotonda and state road 776. This is a great area that has some of the best pricing in Englewood. This area offers easy access to both Englewood and Port Charlotte, making it an ideal location to amenities. This area is within a 15 minute drive to Port Charlotte, and a 10 minute drive to Englewood Beach. There are many freshwater canals running through east Englewood, offering waterfront homes at a great price. The waterfront in this area is basically just for aesthetics and it is nice for freshwater fishing and light boating.

Rotonda
A very large wheel shaped neighborhood, Rotonda, which has shown significant growth with new homes and renovated sections. Rotonda is a community-driven, deed restricted area with diverse housing options including condominiums, villas, single-family homes. Rotonda is located between State Routes 775, 771 and 776. In the center of Rotonda West is the community park with restrooms, picnic area, walking path, Basketball courts and tennis courts and much more. If you like fishing Rotonda has something special, with its many lakes and over 25 miles of fresh water canals which over 20 miles can be navigated by small crafts. For those who enjoy Golf, Rotonda has six great courses to play and the 7th to be completed by the end of 2008.

South Englewood: Grove City & Eagle Preserve
Grove City Florida is a small area of Florida that only has a population of around 2000 people. The land area is only about 1.3 square miles and is located on route 775 just to the southwest of Englewood. This area has homes that offer saltwater boating canal access directly out to Stump Pass to the Gulf of Mexico and beyond. An evolving area showing good neighborhood spirit for positive changes. Eagle Preserve is a private, gated bay front community with primarily Key West-style homes and endless bay views on the Intracoastal (Lemon Bay). Known for fishing piers and shallow water usage for jet skis, some homes back up to a green space with golf course views. This eagle nesting area is truly special and has abundant wildlife.

Gulf Cove
Gulf Cove is a very nice area of homes located between Englewood and Port Charlotte on State road 776. The community lies on the banks of the Mayakka River and some homes have a view of the El Jobean Bridge. Many homes in Gulf Cove have saltwater canals with easy gulf access. Since the community is so close to the Myakka, most of these canals have no bridges to the Gulf. The Gulf Cove area is ideal as it is close to the beach, Charlotte Harbor, and all the amenities that Englewood and Port Charlotte have to offer. Many restaurants, shops and grocery stores are within a short distance. The Port Charlotte mall and theater is only about a ten minute drive away.

South Gulf Cove
South Gulf Cove is located just off State Road 771 between Port Charlotte and Boca Grande. This upscale community has approximately 55 miles of navigable canals that provide access to Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico. All the canals converge into the Interceptor Lagoon, where boaters can run full speed towards the mouth of the Mayakka River. Some properties in Gulf Cove are designated as have sailboat access, meaning that there are no bridges to the harbor.
